Energy communities and collective self-consumption represent new energy models in the ecological transition process that will allow Italian country to achieve the ambitious goal of decarbonization. At the moment there are just over 20 in Italy but the boost for their development could come from the incentive measures and tax breaks implemented by the Italian Government for the benefit of self-consumption of energy and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which provides funding of over 2 billion for the installation of approximately 2000 MW of new electricity generation capacity in distributed configuration by renewable energy communities and renewable self-consumers.
According to the Politecnico di Milano, within 5 years the energy communities in Italy will be about 40 thousand and will involve 1.2 million families, 20 thousand offices and 10 thousand small and medium-sized enterprises.
It is clear that for the success of these configurations it is necessary to define the end-to-end process along the entire value chain energy in order to govern the new business model and maximize its benefits: from the construction and management of renewable plants to the technical-economic management of the community and the monitoring and optimization of consumption.
The workshop, with the participation of Enea and GSE, intends to deepen the issue in light of the current economic situation of unexpected and unpredictable high growth in energy prices also through the presentation of case studies.
